I've just joined so I am not sure if this has been covered before.
I have a knocking noise from my drivers side head on my '99 Cobra motor and suspect that the exhaust valves on cylinder #5 are not opening as the car cannot start or run with the spark plug in.
The biggest problem I have at the moment is that I cannot get the cam cover clear enough to see what is going on as it fouls on the brake booster.
Is there a technique I am not aware of or does the motor have to be removed?
    Thanks.

You will need to loosen, or possibly remove the master cylinder & brake booster in order to get the drivers side valve cover off.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if that was an easy job but it must be easier than any other options.
Once I get it off I am going to machine it down so I will not have the problem again.
