Cobra's built bottom end?

I hear people tell me about how "built" the bottom end is on these cars. And that they can take a lot of abuse. Is this true? What exactly is a built bottom end? Do GT's, Saleens, or Roush's have these, b/c people usually talk about the built bottom end on cobra's when those cars are compared to it. Thanks.

Not sure, but my brother blew his bottom end on his 01 cobra....it was under warranty so they replaced the whole motor, but still a pain in the ass....could have been a fluke.

The 03 and newer Cobra's have "biult bottom ends". Any previous year Cobra does NOT.

What people mean when they say "biult" is that the car's block has forged (much, much stronger) rods and pistons. The crank on the pre 03 blocks is forged, but that's it. The factory pistons and rods are prone to breaking when using a power adder such as a blower. Detonation is what can kill a non forged block....now you can still blow a forged block, but it will take a lot more to do it. Because the 03+ Cobra's come with blowers on them from the factory, they switched to a factory forged (biult) bottom end.

All GT's, Saleens, Roushes...and every other Mustang out there doesn't have a biult bottom end. They call it the bottom end because it all sits under the heads and intake.

Not only the additional thickness...but the way the material is actually formed/stamped. There was a detailed explaination of the different ways metal can be worked and what it means to the engine biulders.
