ok so i drive a 2001 mustang 3.8L V6. i have an aftermarket mid pipe and cat back. i realized it was making a weird farting sound today at low revs (idle - 3500). so when i got home a crawled under and took a look - theres a crack in the mid pipe where the catalytic converter meets the pipe that goes to the cat back (crack only on left side mid pipe). the crack is right where the weld used to be. will i need a new mid pipe or can this probably just be re-welded???

    :welcome: to :SNSign:

It shouldn't be a problem to get it welded back up. I wouldn't imagine it'd cost more than $15-20 to do it, either.

Take you a hand held torch, a metal coat hanger, and weld it up. works like soldering. It's the same as brazing. A friend of mine at work had a pipe broke off @ the Y. He had it up & running before his break was over. All three places all the way around. Everyone has seen the torch im talking about. It has about a 18" by 3" round bottle on it that comes unscrewed from the short tip. This will work trust me.

That'll work if it's a MAPP gas torch. Propane wouldn't get hot enough to melt the hanger.
