Hey all, Just purchased a stock True Blue 2001 Cobra with 37.500 on it . Have owned 4 fox bodies and knew how to set them . Need some input as to what would be a good daily driver set up. Right now just looking at strut/shock and springs combo. Would like to sit a little lower, but not slammed . You know, fill the wheel well gap some and have a decent ride. Also what will be needed to control bumpsteer if an issue?
99 cobra here I just purchased a set of Eibach pro springs with Tokico adjustible shocks and struts along with that combo will be MM strut tower brace and steeda camber caster brace. Mine will be a summer daily driver as well here is a list of all mods done to car and will be done Present Mods 373 gear ratio • Saleen Body kit • Saleen Wheels • Pirelli Tires Pzero Rosso • Customized interior with Momo pedal and painted Profession painted products • BBK throttle body • sct MAF Speed calibrator • Steeda under drive Pulleys • Steeda Camber Caster Plates • Steeda tri axe short throw shifter • Diablo Predator chip dyno tuned • JLT Cold Air Induction system • (New) JLT hood props • (new )Eibach springs pro kit and Tokico adjustable shocks and springs • Magnaflow x-pipe and catback • Mods in progress • Powder coating wheels throttle body ,Under drive pulleys, Door lock pins, Upper intake manifold to color match with exterior • Vibrant Fiberglass dashboard and console Customized leather seats and interior • Future Modification • Vertical Doors • Audio and Video • Custom Paint job • Supercharger what do you think?
Eibach Pros will keep a good ride and lower it about an inch, Bilstiens are one of the best IMO, Tokicos are a good second. All bumpsteer kits seem equal, so UPR gets the nod at 110 bucks Also your gonna want a CC kit cause there will be too much negative camber. Being a Cobra their is alot of stuff ya want to do to the IRS, diff brace, bushings and such.
I say I'd go Bilstein shocks and struts for sure. Springs, you have plenty of options...I'd go Steeda as a first choice and Eibach as a second choice.
I put on the Bilstein BTS kit. Like it. Good ride/handling compromise. Lowered it about an inch which is all you want for handling. The reason I went with the kit was to make sure the valving in the shocks/struts was compatible with the spring rates. All of the above suggestions are probably good. Just check whatever combination you choose to make sure the shock/strut/spring combination is calibrated to work in harmony.
