    I have a 2.3 dual plug motor

I was trying to figure out why my car is getting ****ty mileage and a rough idle and so forth. Anyways, A friend gave me the firing order for the fun of it, as a last resort, as I have changed everything else and guess what!!

The back coilpacks 4 wires were all incorrect, I switched them and it seems to run much much better, I want to go slap the person that owned it before me!

Anyway, my question now is, with everything new (plugs, wires, etc) what kind of fuel economy increase am I going to see?

Thank you for all your help.

PS. How the hell do you mix the wires up!!! MY GOD!!! lol.... thanks guys

Normal for a 2.3 N/A (don't know if you have a convert or not) is 26-30 for me on 89 oct. with 2 year old tune up. Soon I am going to do another tune up and hope to keep if not inprove the mileage.

LOL not a drop top man a converted to turbo I must have skipped over the dual plug (stupid me) you need a tune up bad. You should not be getting that bad mileage.

I have done the tune up, it has about 2000 miles on the plugs and wires, changed pcv, changed air filter, 02 sensor.... the whole ten yards, this is why I am hoping that this being wrong when I had no idea being the culprit of the gas guzzling!

    Thanks Kid

When you get the parts use more motorcraft things on it and gap the plugs to the lower end of the suggested so that wear will allow them to still be in range. In a N/A motor you have more leeway for plugs and wires but getting into the habbit now of using motorcraft parts on it will help you when and if you do a turbo swap later on.

oh Hmm if all of that is new like you said then I think you should be getting 26 miles at least with the correct firing order.

Either it was pinging, or it makes him feel better...i've come to find this strange phenomenon aswell "octane = power!" ....everyone knows that :p

I use 89 octane in mine. The only reason why I do it is because it just seems to run horribly on 87 octane. Sputters down the highway, idle is more erratic, pings a little, seems to misfire at idle more often. Using midgrade 89 octane smooths out a lot of those things believe it or not.

I swear kiddiccarus works for motorcraft.. My car runs better at 87 octane. Weird and even though no one listens. I have greatly got alot better miliage after I built my Cold Air Intake. Its leaner...

:rlaugh: Sorry man. Once I get some new mods I'll shut up about the CAI. I guess I'm still excited about it.
