when i replace my stock gear with a 4.30, i am also thinking about putting a detroit, auburn, or eaton locker in as well. is this safe/streetable? i drive my 96 cobra everyday and on the highway often. i am also thinking about competing in NSCA events. is it worth the money? which brand is the best? thanks.

Nothing beats a Detroit locker if you can take the ratcheting noise. A limited slip is all you need for street/limited strip use though.

Ya, Detroit Lockers are suppose to be one of the best...but suck on the street. Not for an everyday driver.

I have the Eaton and have been very happy so far. The shop that did all my work says that is what they put in most of their street/drag cars they do for customers.

Auburns are similar, but up until a short time ago, couldn't be rebiult...in fact they still can't, but they have a replacement program (or something like that anyways).

I'd say go with the eaton.
Stay away from the Detroit Locker. For what you want to do with the car, it's not the best choice for you.
