Youre right ford isnt the only one that makes pumps.Does somebody make specifically a standard rotation pump for a fox w/5 liter?Probably not,so finding out before hand that you guys needed a standard rotation pump from another application would have saved you guys a lot of headaches no?Not bashing you ,but you come on a forum looking for answers and you blackened are all pissy.Guys are trying to help and your acting like a drama queen.Relax a little.

If they asked what your car was they probably tried to "correct" your "error" and sent you a 5.0 Mustang pump thinking you don't know what you are doing or asking for. Get pump for a 5.0 Crown, Grand Marquis or Town Car. Should solve the problem.

Also, judging from your picture your smooth water pump pulley would slip like a mo-fo. Especially under throttle. Get a water pump pulley from a mid-late 80's/early 90's Crown, Grand Marquis or Town Car. They are ribbed like you should have...for your pleasure... :) and cooling advantage. Your problem looks like lack of belt contact area to me (assuming the pump is a standard rotation pump).

best belt system to eleminate p/s and a/c on 5.0

Out here in arizona I put in manual rack and pinion (20-1 ratio). dumped my a/c but installed ford racing part M-8511-A50 (which moves p/s bracket up high on drivers side where a/c was) and left the stock round p/s bracket in place. Purchased a bolt-on aluminum billet six groove idler pulley kit that mounts in the p/s bracket and is the same size that the old p/s pulley was!!! The big advantage to this system is that the stock belt tensioner works as it was intended to and nothing slips!!! my stang is 87 gt convertable. This bolt-on kit also allows me to use a stock OFF THE SHELF ford belt (napa 25-060845) $22 instead of having to pay $65 for a freak size napa belt!!! just my two cents!

Interested in this. I got the idea that I should change the front cover when I went to a standard rotation water pump. Also, the ones I checked a couple years back had a different bolt circle diameter on the pump for the fan and pulley.

So I stayed with the reverse rotation, and rigged an idler pulley.
