I took my 1998 P71 Crown Vic Police Interceptor to the dragstrip last night to get some runs in. I knew it was going to be the slowest I ever went down the strip but I was really there to help my brother run his newly aquired 1995 Z28. I waited until the sun was down because I had a suprise for the crowd! Since the car is slow, I wanted to at least give them a show so during my big smokey burnout I hit the strobes and wig-wags! The crowd went wild for that!!! I was racing another forum member (04LS2goat) and as you can tell from the video I cut a .136 light to his 1.380 light and held him off to the 1/8th mile when he flew past me. This run was a 16.3 at 84 with 2.3 60ft. My best of the night was a 16.2 at 85 with a 2.3 60ft. The DA was 1802ft and getting worse as the night went on. I believe that the police car would do a 15.9 or even 15.8 in good air but that's still slow . . . I must say, it was nice not having to wear a helmet and I could have eaten a sandwich and drank a water, I had so much damn time . . . the video is being optimized for streaming. ill have to check it later. sounds like a good time. i cant seem to find many people to go to the track with me. i think they are scared of getting a timeslip.
It's funny how people think those police cars are fast. They're nice, solid cars but DEFINATELY NOT fast. My Cadillac ran that kind of E/T BEFORE my mods many years ago. Now it's running low to mid 14's. So how'd the Z run?
For a stock 1995 A4 it ran 14.04 at 99. The DA last checked in at 1802ft so corrected, it would be 13.8X-13.9X stock. We have on order a 220/230 - .510/.510 on a 114LSA Comp cam, Springs, pushrods, Long tube headers, racing Y-pipe, CAI, and 4.10s with a new Eaton limited slip. Once installed and dyno tuned - back to the track!
I am not sure who thinks the Vics are fast. Every police department has complained from the day the got them they were slow.. and they all wanted the Chevys back.
Oh yeah. It had a iron head version of the LT1 which actually flowed better then the aluminim version, just weighed more. My brother had one a few years back and they hauled ass! They just couldn't stop!!!
At the 2003 MM&FF Luxobarge shootout at E-town, we had a 2000 CVPI show up with strobes/lights (he was an EMT or something). The best he ran was a 16.2 @ 8x mph (totally bone stock) and he ran the lights down the strip.
