As most GTs my headlights look like crap and I do not have enough money to buy fancy ones. Can a sand them with 400 grit paper and use polishing compound?

Whats the best way to brighten them up a bit?
Do you have to take them out?

its probly easier to take them out. but first, try some rubbing compound on them, that might help. if not, wetsand, then compound, then a finer abrasive, should look good.

I would not start with 400 grit. I would start with something like 800 grit and work you way up to 2000 grit. That will make it easier to remove the sanding marks with a compound. I don't think there is a rubbing compound out there that will remove 400 grit sanding marks but, then again we are talking plasic. Why make it hard on yourself though.
