I've been searching for carpet to cover my package tray. A couple years ago you could find rolled everywhere of black speaker box carpet. I bought a roll for my old van and it cost less than 20 bucks from Walmart. Now I can't find it for less than 40 bucks with an additional 12- 13 bucks shipping.

I need it to be unbacked so the sound from my deck speakers can pass through it.

WTF

A couple trips to Lowes and my car now has an overflow bottle. I had to retap the threads because Moroso tapped them crooked. Drilled and tapped some holes and made a level sight.
IMG_20170311_155441924.jpg

You can see my nice tap to the right of the tank. Lol

The tank got bolted to my fender brace and tucked bbehind my nose. I can actually see the level with everything bolted up and can top it off through the fitting on the top.

The hose from the radiator runs to the bottom. The top hose is open and allows the tank to breathe. Morosso drilled a little weep hole in the top of this thing....I'm thinking about sealing that up.

Now, on to the package tray...

Package tray is done. Found out the previous owner used all types of screws on the rear trim panels. The only thing that broke was the seat belt bolt cover on the passenger side.

Also, I took the opportunity to remove the purple old window tint. That crap had to go.

I only used one layer of jute behind the board and three layers to make the center section. Its in the car now but its dark and a lot of stuff needs to go back in. Guess more pictures will come tomorrow.

Here are some pics from today. Kinda hard to take pics of the package tray area. It fit great and works well...glad I did it myself.
IMG_20170312_142408984_HDR.jpg

Now, the fade on my rear seat is irritating me. I'm thinking about taking a bit of porno red fabric to cover the top of the seat back....until I buy seat covers....or maybe I'll dye it back to the factory color. Decisions decisions

The other picture of the package tray kinda sucked. This one is only marginally better.
Good job on the package tray Scott. You've done what i'll probably do now. :nice:

Thanks, man ! It worked out well. Wish I could've found a thin plastic like the old tub surround material...about the thickness of poster board. The reason is because I had to pull the sail panels to get the board in.

If it was more flexible I could've put it in without taking anything apart.

The Loctite heavy duty spray adhesive worked good...I'm pleased with it. :nice:

New tail lights for Dusty. Got them in a trade.... They're better than the cracked lights on him.

They tail lights look OK. I've got to reseal them but it gives me time to fix the stock ones....let super glue do its work !!!

I may put a light coat of tint on them....

I don't man-the car's color mixed with the stance and wheels- I like 'em

Thanks, man. They take a little getting used to for me. I'll leave them alone until I touch up the black on the car and get a buffer on the paint.

Not much going on right now.

I wired up a Sony 1200 watt amp to my Kicker 10 that resides in my dusty trunk. I don't have pics of the process but I'll try to post some eventually. I soldered all my wires and tried to hide as much as possible. The gain is turned below halfway but this little speaker really kicks. :nice:

I tell you one thing....Black Label Society sounds pretty good turned up. I just need some tweeters on the dash to even it all out.

My thermostat housing showed up so I'll probably get after that this weekend. The other one has the BMW fan switch tapped into it. I'm not going that route...so....its a polished paper weight.

A couple more weeks and I'll be back to my old self again. I can't wait for warm weather :banana::banana:

Went out the junk yard and found a TFI heat sink for 5 bucks.
IMG_20170325_145024425.jpg

FFinally, got the 195 thermostat put in. The bottom bolt is a real pain in the @#$. I was cussing and about to throw $#&t all over the freakin' place. The other thermostat was a 160...thought it was a 180 :O_o:

This little speaker puts out more bass than I'll ever need. This thing fits perfect in a notch. I'm very pleased.

Had a good day helping out a new mustang owner. Helped to fix the sunroof, put in a 140mph gauge cluster, aligned the hatch so it latched, and he did a couple other things.

Today I'm helping another buddy with two of his cars.

How many if you remember these old dinosaurs ?
IMG_20170402_111132655_HDR.jpg

If you can find one, they help out a whole lot... This thing has been one of my pride and joys for the last 20 years.

I also did this today...
IMG_20170402_112037654_HDR.jpg

That's an AGM battery....to replace my 5yr old Gold series battery from Advance Auto.

The 65 series battery fits perfect in my battery tray. It fills it out a lot better than the puny 58 series battery that was in there.

The only thing I modified was that sticker that was on the top....that thing had to go.

Bought this gas welder for 50 bucks...wooohoo !!!

Couldn't pass up the deal from a buddy. He's bringing the regulator down tomorrow. He only used it once to weld floors in an old pickup truck....15 years ago.
IMG_20170405_201419377.jpg

I'm sure it'll weld circles around my Harbor Freight special. Now maybe I can weld some subframe connectors on Dusty.

That brings me to this....my car trailer is open center and level. Couldn't I just park the trailer on level ground and crawl under it to weld in my SFCs. Seems like it should work, right ?

Good grief !!!

Finally got Dusty back running today. Somehow I screwwwed my Megasquirt tune up. Also, screwed the timing up.

Oh...and I burned the number 4 plug wire...dangit

But, all in all, today was a good day.
Smh
Here's a pic of my car idling....and my repaired tach works again.
IMG_20170408_151901030_HDR.jpg

Everything looks like its working....until my idle shoots to 2600rpms after about 5 minutes idling. I'm sure it'll get figured out...

I'll get on my computer here in a bit and see what's going on. Things you can check,.....idle rpm curve, swap iac polarity.. also check to see if it's running on closed loop idle, if it's not then your warmup duty cycle table needs some love.

Seems like when I leave the tune alone you sent me my car fires right up. As soon as I start d##kin' with it I get problems.

It starts and runs...when I get the idle surge fixed...I'll be able to get it to auto tune. I'd hate to be in traffic and have the rpms spike. I'll check for closed loop...I think it was set to close at 180 degrees....I'm running 198- 203
