It runs like 1200-1500 rpms when idle, when you shift to drive. It really shifts hard. What could be the problem?
I want to get it down to like 800...

There is a little screw on the throttle body, about where the throttle cable meets it, if I remember correctly. You can use a flat head screwdriver to adjust it that way.

I tried it and it worked when i drove it around for a test drive, then it seemed to go back to 1200 when i came back. I forgot to check the screw.
Any more ways to adjust it?

Theres two more things you can check, fist your idle air control may be sticking due to to much cabon buildup. So take that out and clean it with some parts cleaner. If that doesnt work your egr is causing it more than likely. To test and se if thats it just unplug the conector to it and se if that helps. Good luck with your car man hope that helped:)
