does anyone know how fast i can run on my IRS suspension before I have to do a solid axle swap? I should be breaking high 12's here soon once i swap my gears out.....I am putting on a procharger d1sc in about 6 months which should put me at low 11's or even high 10's with drag radials. When should i expect my halfshafts to say goodbye? Thanks

There are a few guys running low 10's with the 6-speed and the IRS. May need to upgrade the half shafts and the T-56 input shaft if you want to run those numbers all the time though....

Sorry 54life! I was thinking you had an '03!

Well you do have basically the same rear end though. The '03 did come with beefier GKN halfshafts and a thicker IRS brace compared to the pervious year. I would assume you need the same upgrades as we do. Halfshafts and some sort of better rear end girdle. I'll tell you a little secret... MJChip from Zone-5 Performance Products is almost ready to release a much needed differential cover girdle for the Cobra IRS. It's being tested by a half-dozen hard core guys right now. If you want to learn more you can read about it here: http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8298

Get you one of those and a set of after market Half shafts and you'll be damn near bulletproof. (Just have to worry about the stub shafts after that!)

I will be doing a solid axle swap in the next few months, I will sell you my GKN Stage IIIs from my current 99 setup. So when you break those stockers give me a PM. I also got two stock 1/2 shafts for my 99 that I plan to sell with the IRS setup on ebay. I feel the GKNs are worth a premium so I will sell them alone.
