ok well if anyone has been paying attention to the weather you know that louisiana just got plowed by gusauv. well i live about 30-40 miles from where he made landfall. well im in lauderdale, ms. well one of my buddies works for the parish i live in and he said that my house is fine. but now we have to worry about the other one that could end up in the gulf, ike. but i think we will be staying a few more days because they said it could be like a week before we could get electricity back. anybody else have to evacuate?

I'm from NOLA but go to LSU, so I rode the storm out in my apartment in Baton Rouge. Lotta wind up here, and rain. Trees down all over, power lines and posts down. A lot of wind damage to roofs of buildings and such, and flooding from all the rain. Really wasn't that bad though. LSU closed through Friday though, so that's a plus :p. But the game is probably canceled, so :(

I live real close to campus, which makes my area a priority for the power company, so we got power back around 3pm today. I think most of the city is still out. 2 blocks down Nicholson from me, there's a transformer, still attached the the upper 1/4 of a telephone pole, laying on the ground. And a bunch of the poles down Nicholson (major street that runs from downtown BR) are leaning at like 60 degree angles, with flooding around them that might cause them to fall more. But apparently they don't affect me, so I can't complain.

GF's parents are staying with us up here. They're from Metairie (basically New Orleans, for those unfamiliar with it). They heard from a friend who stayed that there's no damage at all in their area, but they are without power because one of the main transmission lines is down and the power company can't find it. People can start returning to that area 7am tomorrow.

they were expecting it to be worse than katrina but it fell to a cat 2 before landfall. if it was a cat 3 it would have been a lot worse. my mom and lil bro and two sis's stayed with some fam in hammond but i went with the future wife and her fam to lauderdale ms and we still got alot of rain.
