Where can I here sound clips of the Borla and bassani systems. I have heard JBA, Magnaflow, and flowmaster. What systems would you go with??
sounds i like the flowmaster myself always have but i would be curious witch exhaust system gives the most power? no headers cat back system?
Take a look in the 5.0 mag from last month thier doing shootouts w/ all diff exhaust systems they tell you the hp gains for each one, and so on.. very valuable write up. there also doing headers, as well
Borla has some clips on their Cat-back system on their web site. (or used to have them??) I have had the Borla Cat-back's installed for 3500+ miles now (since Mar). I still love their sound. Not too loud, no real droning at cruise, at WOT really show their presence, etc.... They seem to give just enough extra presence to the car without being like a boy racer, but if that is what you want, then they would not be right for you. Since I am 48, I still like noise, but not as much when I was younger! lol I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up! lol
im probably going to go with the borla cat-back also, because like you i just want a bit more of a presence whithout sounding to ricer. Is there different kinds of borla performance mufflers? If i would install the borla catback with the stock mufflers would that change the sound at all. thanks in advance.
There are two different Borla kits; the Stinger kit, and their regular kit. The Stinger kit has cylindrical mufflers, the other kit is the more common rectangular. The Stinger is louder, and doesn't sound quite as deep as the regular kit. I had the Stinger kit for my previous ride (2004 Mach 1) and I loved it. And, my wife loved it too (that says alot; you don't know my wife!!). Loud enough to get noticed if you wanted, but no where near annoying. And, it's cheaper than the regular kit, noticeably. I will be buying the Stinger kit for my '06. Not because the Magnaflow, JBA, Corsa, or Bassani aren't good too, but only because I know I won't be disappointed with the Borla. Thanks. tom281
When I bought my Borla's earlier this year, the round mufflers were the only ones available. I like the look and sound, although I have not heard the retangular version muffler. You really need to get the complete setup from the cats back. It consists of exhaust tubes from the cats to the rear axle and the mufflers with chrome exhaust tips (bigger than stock) that connect to the tubes. Just putting the tubes without the rest would be a waste, since you are not gaining any additional exhaust flow with just the tubes. The mufflers are a very nice design and are just subtle enough that most people look at them and know you did something, but are not sure what you did until you start it up! Then they know! Enjoy!
