Hey all, I'm relatively new to the forum but I've been lurking for awhile. As I'm a bit of a poor college student, I've been saving my free money and I had originally intended to get SLP or Magnapacks but I noticed the Pypes Violator catpack is way cheaper so I figured I'd go with that. The Pypes seem to sound better then Flowmaster and the like. Now, I want to get the Violator with a catted X but I was wondering what type of headers I should get? I have an auto 2000. Thanks.
No need to do headers, IMO. They're a major PITA, and unless they're longtubes, you won't see any improvment.
Do they have emissions in Florida? If not I’d do an O/R X, its cheaper and louder. I’ve heard a car with Pypes and didn’t really care for it. Try Magnaflow, their exhaust is priced pretty good and I love the sound of Magnaflow. Shorty headers wouldn’t hurt, anything is better than that log that they use now. I would do LTs though if you can do them. I you do LTs you will have to buy a midpipe just for the LTs but if you buy shortys any midpipe will work.
No, we don't have any emission testing here so I don't think it would be a factor. Hm, decisions decisions. I was hoping to do a budget build but since I don't have the skill/tools to install things myself, I'll have to pay for an install aswell. Thank you for your help aswell.
Installing a cat-back is fairly easy. Jack up the car in the rear and put it on jack stands. Have a friend handy to help. Unbolt the old one and bolt in the new one making sure the get the hangers in place. The hardest part sometimes is getting the hangers to go back into the rubber pieces. A little squirt of some lubricant helps.
lol thanks. Would you guys advise me to stay away from shops that build custom stuff? I've heard that alot of them do craptastic work.
