I realize exhaust sound is quite personal. However, I am open for suggestions for exhaust upgrade for my son's 3.6L. Are there any set ups that make the 3.8 sound more like a 4.6L? Also, we do not want a set up that produces a constant anoying drone in the cabin. All suggestions will be appreciated.

dual Flowmasters sound pretty good. 40s are loud, so if you want quiet look at the 50 series. It really does depend on the person and what they like, because you will always hear good and bad about all of them due to the different sounds. If you don't want to mess with an H-pipe, Mac makes a direct bolt on, but it wont give much if any power gains. Personally I like dual Flow 50s on an H pipe because it is mellow, deep, and got a good rumble at idle. H-pipe has a more mellow sound, X-pipe is louder, but for the 3.8 even fire, an H or X are not needed, they only tune the sound of the exhaust slightly. Off road H/X pipes (no cats) might make it raspy, and louder, but many shops will not install them, and if they do you have to have cash.

/\ some even have sound clips so if anyone needs exhaust opinions and questions go check this thred out for your 3.8 and as for droan if you dont want it stay away from flow 40 series especially no cats and/or 3.73 gears....fortunately wife loves the noise level

Some people like Flowmaster others dont. I personaly dont like them at all. If you going to go away from the GT take off I'd go with magnaflow cat (not magnapack) and O/R X. You can get them a hell of alot cheaper at PartShoper than at any exhaust shop too. There is a 100 coupon to for the Cat back (MAGNACB) so thatll save ya some doe to.
