So I got my stang out of storage this weekend. Radar detector doesn't work... It doesn't work when plugged into my other car either.
So I have another Whistler detector (almost same model) on my BMW - I figure I'll plug the dead detector into the good ones power wire and see if its the cable/plug thats at fault. It still doesn't work using the known good wire, so I figure its shot.

I then plugged the BMWs good detector back in and now it isn't working either. The broken one must have blown a fuse or something. I dunno.

Pain in the ass. I'll deal with it at the weekend I guess.

Doesnt explain why it wont work in another car, but in my experience Ford's just LOVE to blow the cigg/acc. socket fuse. Used to make it a real PITA when I worked at lincoln; I couldnt tell you how many fuses I had to replace just to pull codes for a CEL because they like to use the same circuit for the DLC.

my front cig lighter dont work either.. and i replaced the fuse. nothing. i had to rerout the one the goes to the center console up front and zip tie the extra wire together.. ghetto but o well, nobody would ever know

Maybe somone is trying to tell you to either slow down or quit wasting money on things that don't work :)

They work as long as you're not the only car out. I've almost bought one just so I don't have to worry so much on my morning commute to school. Most of the time someones already been pulled over and leaves me in the clear but it would be a nice peace of mind. Obviously if you're alone though it only takes .02 seconds for him to blip you and you're effed before the detector even chimes.
