Has anyone mounted a fire extinguisher in their Stang without doing any majore metal cutting or drilling? I have an 06 GT that I will be racing in a road race next month. One of the requirements is to have a 2.5 lb. fire extinguisher mounted inside the vehicle. I don't want to drill any holes if possible. Anyone have suggestions or experience with this?

remove the center console and possibly the passenger seat and/or the radio bezels. check out the mounting points. can you fab up a bracket to bolt in the car using those points? if there are some that are easily accessible, seems like it would be cake to fab up a bracket to hold the extingusher in place. (as long as you have some tools to cut metal.)

First, let me say that I have experienced a fire at an open track event without a fire extinguisher and IT STINKS. I was lucky and the guys at the track saw what was going on and came to my aid. Still, if I'd been in the back forty when it happened...... anyway, I'm in the same boat you're in. I've finally decided that I want the extinguisher on the drivers side of the car. If there's a fire your first priority should be to get the car stopped and get out of it. That leaves you standing next to the open drivers door. So, I'm leaning towards mounting the extinguisher on a bracket between the reat seat mounting bolts. Should be an easy fab, just a staright flat bar, two holes, and some hardware. That's the easiest thing I can come up with. Let me know if you come up with anything better.

Did either of you mount your fire extinguisher? If so, please post pics or links.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. Is there a way to mount something to the bottom front of the driver's seat? It seems like that would be a good place - out of the way, but easily accessible.
