Coming over from Foxbody mustang land! Picked up this 08 CS vert (auto) last month and I have to say this is by far my favorite of all cars to date....the s197 is a whole new animal. She was dealer stock and had just a tick over 10,000 miles on her. Won't be seeing much for mods, I'm a little played out from my 88, spent 8yrs modifying that little girl and I just want to enjoy this one. She's a daily for me and really looking forward to spring and making use of the droptop feature.

Sold my 04 GT vert a few yrs back when the baby came, so when the wife said OK I was at the dealership within a day :), never really learned to love the 04...but I already feel the love for this one.
As with every mustang lover, I had to make a few changes to make her 'my own'....here's a few quick picks after a few add-ons and quick wax.

    Purdy...

Purdy... just do the ole' CAI, tuner, udp, and gears thing and you'll have a sub 13sec car:nice:

yup, that easy... after that it starts to get a lil $; Im sure you know what I mean:D

    I had a 92 5.0 ( stolen in '94), 93 Coupe 5.0 untill '99 ) ... still miss 'em.

Thanks guys...appreciate the kind words. Covers are from a shop here in canada, but I believe they're avaliable most everywhere in the USA. They were a bit pricey, but the quality of the parts makes the purchase worth while IMO.

As for the tuner and CAI...I appreciate the heads up and have been looking at bama for a handheld, we'll see what the future brings :). Looking forward to the arrival of my blackout panel and mirror covers...the picture sticky is bad for me...everybody has such gorgeous cars on this site, I can see me spending lots of $$ if not carefull. But I don't want to make any permanent changes, the CS is no longer in production and I hope to keep her for a good long while...she's very special to me.

I wouldn't waste my money on mirror covers - there's nothing that will make those big ass mirrors look nice. Switch over to Agent47 retro mirrors - you won't be disappointed.

Love the agent mirror, but unfortunately the wife needs as much mirror as possible to see, the vert has significant blind spots so I compromised. :)

You let your wife drive your mustang? That's what they make Honda CRV's for! I bought the 5-speed to ensure she wouldn't drive it, now with the suspension and exhaust note she won't even ride in it. In other words, it's just about perfect! haha

she let me indulge in the my 88 for YEARS without any restrictions or even a dirty look...I won't admit to how much I did spend on that car...but it was alot. Now looking my 38th birthday square in the face having something that we both can enjoy is more important. In 8 yrs she never even once sat in the passenger seat of my 88!! She's a mustang fan, so we compromised :)

    perfect time for 88 pics...great car...good times!!

Sometimes you reach a point when there's nothing left to do except start over. With that car there litterally was nothing left to do but jump into projects that were going to cost HUGE amounts of cash and with a little boy who deserves everything the world has to offer I couldn't justify spending thousands more on a car that spent most of it's life sitting in the garage waiting for me to find free time that I never seemed to have. She found a good home...she was a really, really fine car for me.

I can relate. I spent most of my high school years wrenching for fun then went to university, got married, got a job, raised a family and completely avoided the car hobby thoughout. Now that my kids are grown, I'm jumping back in with both feet and am really enjoying it. I know it would have been hard to balance the car hobby with raising kids.

It's tough...but easy decision as you are well aware, family first. I did this........

and with the 88's paint code, turn it into this:

kind of 'an in memory of'....not the pure fun of the 88, but it comes close.

Nice to see us older guys on here though....judging from your mod list, she's a serious had full I bet!!

It's pretty fun already but the stock clutch is a gonner! I've got a McLeod Street twin ordered along with a 6-speed conversion and 3.73 gears. Then going to do a new engine.

Oh man, that 88 is so nice! I love the S197s, but the smaller fox bodies are appealing --that one looked about perfect. Anyhow, welcome to the S197 club. If you are not planning on modding it, then I suggest your forget you ever heard of StangNet. :nono: There is nothing but temptation to be had here. :D

Car looks good. I can relate... I got rid of my 97 Cobra vert when we had our first child. As soon as, I got the OK from the wife I bought a 05 Vert with 7000 miles. I really like the car. Enjoy yours
