Well my V8 to 2.3 swap took a little longer than I expected to get done. Thursday I was able to get it down the track a few times though. Whats crazy is the car was missing anything over 4100rpm and I was shifting fairly lightly. I think I've gotten it straight and will be heading back tuesday. Now for the times. The fastest time I ever got the green coupe or the this car with a V8 was 7.81 in the 1/8th. My very first Run: 60' 1.75 330' 4.992 1/8th 7.743 MPH: 88.90 2nd run Launched pretty hard but let off towards end: 60' 1.709 330' 4.925 1/8th 7.788 MPH: 84.65 3rd run let off way early: 60' 1.745 330' 5.165 1/8th 8.077 MPH: 84.01 RIGHT OUT OF THE TRAILER, its the fastest passes I've made and after driving it tonight with the miss gone It will go faster next time. Here's also a few pics from late this afternoon after I pulled the front clip to modify and prep for paint.
I like nude pictures! Sounds like you've realized the 4 cylinder is faster than the V8. I WANT A TURBO MOTOR! NOW!
Thats impressive. I wish I had time/money to do that. By the way, do you know how much torque/hp its making?
The car weighs 2540 without me but that includes all of the body back on it too. If I could ever figure out how to get the video onto the computer I'll post it. It pulls both wheels a few inches in first and second and on the second run popped the driver side when I hit third.
Very nice 351w, your car is an inspiration to the direction I'm looking to take my '88 LX hatch. If you dont mind me asking, what all does your setup consist of and what type of cost was involved with the build to get it running the kind of times you are?
that kinda makes me want to put a 2.3t in the 351w pinto Im picking up this weekend what is the benifit of putting the vam on the presurized side of things?
ya what he said unless your running a stand alone....if your not are you still using the brown top injectors....and is that a meth kit or nitrous i see plumbed into your ic pipe.
Probably the big gain for the Blow thru VAM is the Vane Air temp sensor is getting a reading after the air charge is cooled. Its an NOS nitrous kit.....meth is illegal.
The cost of the set-up? The only answer to cost is: Growing and I'm not finished. I have saved about 2000 but running a stock bottom end. Since we intend to poor the boost and nitrous to it I would rather pull apart a junkyard motor rather than an engine I just built. I have a time in my head that I'm trying to run with a stock long block....It sounds nearly impossible so I won't get into those details. By the end of the summer I intend to build a shortblock capable of handling whatever I can throw at it. Matched with a very good head/cam along with more nitrous and it should become an unforgetable ride. The front suspension is the complete D&D tube kit. K-member, control-arms, & coilovers. I have tryed a few different front springs and I'm running 110lbs springs and Koni reds set on max soft.. I run the stock VAM moved to the intercooler outlet side. I have made no spring or wiper adjustments just moved it. This is done with EEC tuner that stinger set-up for me...My part was to just plug it in. By the way I went back thursday and my first run was a 7.91 with a serious engine miss again. It slowed down every run after that. I played with it today and discovered the previous owner installed a new ignition module but didn't use any dielectric grease. The ignition module had melted to the distributor and was stuck.. Now we might see what a full hard run will bring.
I run a stock motor mount but I take the upper bushing out, install a short bolt and 2 washers and reinstall the metal washer that covers the factory rubber bushing. Basically I take out the vertical hex bolt and rubber spacer. This Makes them as close to a solid mount as possible.....Don't try this unless you don't care how it feels sitting in the drivers seat. I also still run a rubber trans mount since the engine mount is not 100% solid.
