Hi, I am planning on building a 408 (windsor based) stroker motor for my 89 Lx. I found a stroker kit on fordstrokers.com and was wondering if anyone ever bought a stroker kit from them. If anyone did, do they have good kits...do the kits have good components or is their stuff junk? I would like to know before I spend the money! I just blew my last 408 up and I DONT want to do that again!!! Thanks in advance for your help!
I've never ordered anything personally but lots of people say they are pretty good, I am sure other people will chime in about them.
Never bought anything. But woody is a great guy. Any questions Ive ever had about building engines, he has took the time to answer each and every one of them. No matter what time of night it was. Mnay of his engines are running around. And all are very happy with his stuff.
never bought anything from him, but ive heard a LOT of good stuff about them and especially about woody. hes not a member here i dont believe but hes on MM and corral and hes a stand up guy. always stands behind his work, you can talk to him on his site. as far as junk parts he uses quality pieces in all his motors. do a google search and read some of the other threads about him.
I tried to do a budget build myself. I bought a balanced 347 rotating assembly from CHP for about $800 and sent my block to be machined. Machinist found cracks in the mains, so I went to Woody for one of his machined blocks. He was flexible with his price and shipping, and he even threw in a free 28oz weight I needed for my balancer. I cant find the other pics right now, but these wil give you an idea of their work. I'm happy with my block purchase, but now I wish I had just bought the entire assemled short block from them. After buying a few sets of bearings to find the right oil clearance, I really didnt save much money. You cant put a price on the free tech support that Woody gives all his customers. All I bought was a block and he helped me with any questions I had, even unrelated to his product. I will be buying a 408 from him in the future.
I WILL be buying from Jim shortly (just need to sort out a couple of accessories at this point, but don't have any free time) He does use quality parts. I have purchased a couple parts from Jim. Prices are great, and talking to him on the phone was a pleasure. Can't beat his kind of customer service Of course... if you don't know why the previous engine failed, then you are running the chance of the new engine suffering the same fate... good luck, jason
Yea, why did the other one blow up would be a better question. But I've heard a lot of good things about fordstrokers. You have a pm.
