Anyone have these installed at dealer? Is that something that can be done, or does it need to be done at factory?

Side air bag option becomes standard for 2008 model, maybe you can trade up :D

Might be able to retro fit in some SAB equipped seats, as long as the wiring was all there.

There might be some programming changes in the CPU though to let it know the bags are there. Not sure thought, just a guess.

It's a little more complicated than just retrofitting seats. There are crash sensors that tell the bags to go off in a side crash and not to go off in a frontal or rear impact.

I would be shocked if anyone really would do it as a retrofit, primarily because of potential liability issues.
in the event of an accident, if something were to go wrong the implications could be huge,
I know I would not do it

I'm sure it can be done, and if done by a dealer there should be no liability issues. Big issue though is the cost. Much more than than buying it as an option.

i would be that you will never find a dealer that would touch it. no matter who did the work, ther would always be liability if something went wrong. even the best tech can make a mistake, and it they did not operate correctly and someone was injured or worse the dealer wont be owning a dealership much longer.
