    Hey guys,
    check it out...
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7779894845558014372&q=top gear

I'm the first one to admit I've been sucked into believing 4 wheel drive is always the best choice.
I've always liked rear wheel drive the best though, but for some reason I thought it was the worst for steering, like the most dangerous. I guess I'm wrong.

That was an interesting movie. I thought front wheel drive cars were better for steering. It's a shame that poor penguin had to be the victim who changed my mind.

I've always wanted a late 90's Eclipse to fool around with, but I may end up forking out the dough for a GSX rather than just a GS-T. I think it would be cool to have an externally stock Eclipse with an engine with some cajones to **** around with the rice kids.

Yeah, FWD is inherently HORRIBLE. The same 2 wheels are doing EVERYTHING. Driving the car, braking the car, and steering the car. Performance wise, it's a stupid idea.

Plus, FWD burnouts are gay. :D

FWD has to pull the car, so it takes more power to actually drive it. 150 rwhp vs 150 fwhp and the RWD will always win. AWD splits the power, and most people think "oh, 4 wheels driving has more power." meh, nope.

I just thought awd would've gripped better therefore giving it a better jump. I guess I never actually took the time to actually research it, I just went by what people told me.
Well, the tests they do here are for handling, so maybe off the line 4 wheel drive is actually better, I'd like to see a comparison of that.

    A penguin! Good grief!

Very good video. I wish they could have tested them more. AWD are only good in the snow.

You need to investigate AWD more.

Are AWD no good in the snow?

I live in South Florida, only seen snow once in my life, never driven on it. I kinda want to movie to northern North Carolina/West Virginia area, but it snows there and it kinda scares me to have to drive on the snow. Well not so much the snow but the icy roads, like I said I never drive on them but I hear horror stories, and then I see all these videos of like 20 car pile ups because of people not being able to stop on the ice.
Any of you guys have experience driving on the snow/ice?
I'd like to hear what you think about it
    Thanks!

If the ground is icy, there is no good in the snow. Sure it has the power being applied so if any wheel can get traction it will. And Houston is as bad as south florida, if it snows, run. NO ONE can drive, yet they all will try. Then again, no one can drive here in normal weather either I swear.

AWD may only help you gain better traction starting and so on. But from my experience, if you get caught slipping on snow (or even ice, or rain) say a quick prayer. Depending on your speed you may be able to control the car out of a spin, but most of the time people are too slow for that.

Never drove one in the snow. And I don't plan on investigating it :D

I wouldn't worry about the snow. It's not as bad as people say it is. If your live in a big city and they plow the streets and salt them, then you should be fine. Ususally when it snows, people drive slow as hell, so it's not bad. Those 20 car pile ups that your talking about hardly ever happen. Now if you live in an area where they don't plow or salt the streets....

no, southern Florida and Houston don't have snow plows. We had to wait 3 days till the snow melted cause the city couldn't get anything. But it was 76 degrees 2 days after it snowed so.

Hell ya AWD is better in the snow!! My buddys got an Audi A4 1.8T AWD and it kills my grand am (winter car) in the snow. it could be 3in of snow on the ground and that A4 handles like its on rails! ICE is a diff. story i dont care what you drive nothing helps on ice.
