Been away from this area for a few years (but the old timers should recognise me) as I got a 94 GT that I converted into a cobra, which then got totalled, and now own a 94 Lightning. But it appears that tomorrow I am picking up a near complete 2.3 turbo setup at a steal of a deal, but still have to decide on a few things. I am currently considering rebuilding the engine in my spare time, and putting it into my 93 hatch that I still have, and using it for a daily driver to get away from the amount of fuel my L sucks down, or parting it due to the good price I am getting. I am leaning toward the first option though, as I always wanted to turbo the 4cyl when it was my only mode of transportation, but never had the chance to, and I think it would be a cool swap to do. I will post details and how much I got it for after I pick the stuff up. The motor is currently disassembled, so I need a rering/rebearing kit at the bare minimum (where could i find and what price?), and a fully dressed head as I am getting 2 bare turbo heads. How different are n/a heads from turbo heads?

I think Stinger has the link for the overhaul kit on his site. I think it is from northern Auto Parts but I can't remember for sure.
As for an n/a head they do have a diff combustion chamber shape (can be changed with a die grinder) and would need the turbo valves.

I would say go for the swap. I always wanted to do it in my 87 ( which I have had since high school) and with my SVO and the 20 or so other Stangs/turbofords I owned in the following years it never happened. ( and I even had the engine for it!!!)
Finally in 02 I got the chance/free time and I did it. I was never happier with the car!
If you do it, you will not regret it. Feels like you're helping out an old friend :)

Do it! If your L is putting down 224/306, you should be able to crank the boost a little bit and the Mustang will be quite a bit faster.

Not worried about it being fast, I just want a quick daily so I can do some of the work I want to on the L without worry of it being a DD anymore. Plus the gas difference would help a ton.

You'll get into it once the car is turbo'd, trust me. Ever ridden in a 2.3T car?

Well its not gonna happen. At least right now anyway. The guy I was supposed to get the stuff from called and said someone else bought it this morning and I was supposed to get it this evening. What pisses me off is I even offered to paypal him to hold it for me, and he said don't worry about it. I got :owned:

Didn't think so. They're a lot more fun than you can even imagine. :D

But it sucks that you can't get this deal going. Any good junkyards around you? You've got the L, so you could haul a turbo motor home and work on it and drop it in sometime this summer.
