Yeah, a little cleaning up and a few hours of it and you will get it looking pretty good... Engine is looking nice...
When does your car not look good?? I know you're starting to get excited to get here back on the road. Hope everything goes well to the end so you can get her up to Carlisle!
4 days and 20+hrs later and its still not running. I'm getting MUCH closer now though. I have to completely redo the vacuum lines for the intake and that's about it. Some things that have slowed me up: -My dynotech driveshaft is too long and collapses my rear tranny seal, I need a new shorter seal, but in the mean time I will go back to running my DS spacer and old aluminum driveshaft off of my dad's car -the pass. side accessory bracket needed a good 1/4" ground out of it to clear a little bung cast into the side of the dart block -I put 7qts of oil into the engine and it still shows that its a quart low??? I'm still stumped on this one. -Hood and bumper and off being painted and will hopefully be done tonight. The hood needed very minimal work, the cervinis front bumper is JUNK and needed hours of work to fill in all of the pin holes, some of which went the entire way through the bumper. So much for their great quality. -my oil pressure feed line going to my sending units broke and I had to pony up $40 for a stupid steel braided line from autometer -my battery is toast and I need a new one. -I broke a bolt right off of my starter when I was just getting done putting it in, so i had to get a new one... than goodness it had a lifetime replacement warranty Add into this that I only get to work on the car late at night during the week, these little problems turn into day long problems since I can't run out and get parts at 11pm at night. I REALLY hope to fire it up tonight. Keep your fingers crossed guys! To answer some questions: -K member is from PA Racing -tri-bars are on for storage purposes only! -after all the hours I just put into it no one is driving it for a LONG LONG time besides me! -It never was nor will it ever be a show car, but I do my best to have it looking close to as good as it runs. -someday the idler pulley will be swapped for a nice aluminum one, but its low on the list right now -it is a wings west front bumper on the car in the pics. I didn't think my cervinis was going to be painted in time for Carlisle so I test fit it on there to see what it looked like with the stock sides/rear. I actually thought someone stole/threw away the wings west bumper as I couldn't find it for years, then one day while cleaning out the garage it showed up tucked away neatly in a box. I still love the way it looks. -engine bay will be painted next winter along with the entire car -basic engine combo is: =dart sportsman block =scat 4340 forged internals all internally balanced =alum. flywheel =my old AFR165 heads with new exhaust valves and new trick springs =old FTI cam retarded 4* =holley systemax intake =the rest is exactly the same as the old combo. =this combo is only temporary as the cam and heads will be changed over winter, I ran out of money and just wanted to get the car back on the road again. The AFR165's will eventually go on my '90GT, that is the only reason I fixed them and upgraded the springs -the VC's are stock ones I powdercoated and beat to clear my rockers -it will take several weeks to get the car back to its original level of clean, 2 years of sitting in a barn takes it toll on everything -I trying my best to get it to Carlisle, even though it will NOT be in any sort of show condition JR, are you going to Carlisle?
Paul I hate all the small things that happen to the most basic stuff when finishing up projects. That's why I keep a can of gas beside the car in case I feel like dowsing the vert top down and dropping a Zippo on it. Thanks goodness it hasn't got that far but thought about it in the last few weeks. Hang in there it will all get eventually done but somehow unfortunately always at the last minute. You're also a Dad like me and I know the stresses of having enough time to dedicate. I personally can't do anything until my 3yr old goes to bed and whenever she's in the garage small parts and bolts walk away. I'll go to put something back together and can't find the ratchet I just had or a socket, or a wrench or a screw or a bolt, etc........ I hope all goes well until you finish and my fingers are crossed for you. You're da'Man so you'll get it all buttoned up nicely. Man I'm trying to get there but I also have the Stang tore down to do some engine bay painting to freshen it up. I discovered all kinds of melted stuff so I'm gonna wrap everything. I'm also trying to get into True Street @ FFW in Richmond on the 23rd so I need to hustle it up some. If I do get to Carlisle I will for sure find you.
The little problems suck the most when you are so close to being done. Good luck paul. I look forward to great things from that stang.
