I'm kind of a lurker here on :SNSign: but have just very recently starting posting. I figured I'd share with y'all what I ran at the track last night along with a video from the track.

I have a 2005 Premium GT with FRPP Shorty Headers (worthless, thank god I didn't do that mod), Brenspeed O/R H-pipe, C&L CAI with the Canned 91 octane Diablo Sport tune. My exhaust is running through the stock mufflers. I had a half tank of gas with a mix of probably 50/50 89 and 93 octane. It was about 55* :nice: at the track last night with about 80-85% humidity :notnice: My previous best was a 13.028 @ 107 and after that run I made it my goal to hit 12's on the stock tires :)

    Anyways...here are the numbers.

    R/T ... .208
    60' ... 1.958 <--- Stock 235 Pirelli Pzero tires!
    330' ... 5.493
    1/8 ... 8.404 @ 85.00
    1000 ... 10.880
    1/4 ... 12.969 @ 108.14

Here is a video of the run... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRq2eXomE28

I launched at about 3,000 RPM's and slipped the clutch till about 5,000 and then I was completely off the clutch. I then powershifted into second and spun a little bit. I wound out second to about 6100 rpms and then crossed the traps in thrid at about 6400 rpms. Needles to say I was VERY VERY excited and pleased to have run a 12 second pass!

I don't really know what other S-197's are running with comparable mods so if anybody knows, please share!

    Thanks for looking! :D

good job! Feels good getting 12's on the stock tires doesn't it!!! Way to show everybody that there's alot of ET in these cars if you just DRIVE em.

i get more wheel spin than that from the 1-2 shift :( your track must be better prepped than mine.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I was SUPER excited last night. I pretty much didn't get any sleep haha :rlaugh: . It feels amazing getting 12's on the stock tires, especially since a lot of people were telling me it wasn't possible and being in college it makes it awesome! I didn't think I was going to hit 12's while I was in college, but I've already accomplished that goal my freshman year so I guess 11's are my goal by the time I graduate

BigCat...that track is actually Baton Rouge's slower track. No Problem Raceway a little south of here is actually much better prepped. That run might have been a 12.8 if I was on a very well prepped track lol.

Again...thanks for all the compliments guys! I'll be at the track next week (the better one...NPR) to see if I can pull any better times out of the car!

Edit: Bigcat...yes, all I have done is Exhaust (running through the stock mufflers hehe) and a CAI/Tune. :)

Keep us updated! It's definitely possible and the mph and e/t are in these cars for it!

gotcha, care to explain what you mean by elapsed time? time that went by during what? the statements always use it as in these cars have lots of et, I am really not following.

elapsed time from start line to finish line. most commonly reffering to quarter mile drag races.

Okay, I guess that sort of makes sense. I would think it would make more sense to say that they can handle some pretty decent track times, rather than they have some e/t in them. But I am new to this, and I thank you for explaining and your patience while dealing with a noob. Can't wait to get my GT!!!!!

You picked up 7-8 MPH with just an offroad pipe, CAI, and a tune?? WTF! These cars are awesome. I just don't want to do the offroad pipe due to dealer servicing worries. :(
