i recently found a 87 turbocoupe for sale and its 500 bucks, it has new water pump, alternator, shocks etc... what im wondering is if its a good deal? the guy i talked to said that those cars have a "plastic" valve cover and it was melted??(strange) and how hard is it to find a new cover? also he said that it is missing two exhaust manifold studs, but it runs and drives still...worth the cash?

It's a good deal. Have you seen the car? Even if it was a complete pile of dog doo, you've got more than $500 in parts if you have the space/time.

If it's in OK shape, then yes. You could probably talk them down.

sounds like it might be a good deal, depends though. depends on the condition. i would definetly check it out soon. thats literally a complete turbo swap, or a good car to start with.
