    Hey all,

Just thought I'd let everyone know that ol' #07B is back home. They did the final tune yesterday at Modular Depot in Cincinnati. The numbers were OK for a N/A 2v car. It put down 287rwhp and 315ftlb torque. Ken said that he had already done 4 pulls with it in the tuning process and that it was 100+ deg. in the shop, so he thought the numbers were low. He said that if they would have cooled the car down and it was a normal day (temp wise) in the shop that it should have put down between 295-300rwhp and 330ftlb of torque. He also said that it'll put down better numbers once the motor gets some miles on it (it's was a crate motor).

The first drive was pretty cool! For starters, the sound is completely different. It has a bit of a lope at idle. At WOT it screams like a banchee. Those long-tubes, o/r x-pipe and Borla's make a good combo. Completely different then what it sounded like with the stock motor, exh. manifolds and h-pipe. I think the 4.10's would have made a heck of a difference on their own! Combine that with an additional 100+ rwhp and tq and it was a different car. I'm going to have to get a set of frame connectors and then better tires b/c 1st gear goes by pretty quickly. I can't imagine what it is like to drive some of your 400+rwhp cars! Is it just numbers, or can you actually get any of that hp to the ground? Anyways, I think it felt pretty good for what it is. Best of all, it still looks bone stock when I pop the hood (no CAI, no Blower, no N/X lines, just motor).

Now I'm going to move to the wheel/tire/brake department. Phun, phun, phun...

    That’s great news! :nice:

Glad to hear you are pleased with the difference. Too bad we won’t see it in Irvine next month.

    Dave,

Congrats! Isn't it great to get your ride back? Remind me, is your bottom end built? Don't worry about the nums for now. They will come later. Just be nice to it during your break in miles. You want everything to seat.
4.10's are as gnarly as you can go. You will want to go 10' rears for sure.
I know you have been looking into aftermarket wheels. Did you make a purchase yet?
You will hook with some good 295-35-18's. With 500 rwhp, I light up the 3.55's with roll on throttle on the freeway in third gear and I'm running BFG 295 KD's so what are you going to do??? :D

If not, why don't you just go buy a set of aluminum, period correct, Speedline 8.5's and 10's for your car and put the Mags up in the garage. The second you put aftermarket wheels on a "real" Saleen, you will have to answer " hey is that car real, cause you have the wrong rims on it?" At least that is what I have got in the past from experience. Of course, we all know you get pretty determined when you set your mind to something so if you have already gone the aftermarket route then so be it.
Congrats again, and keep us updated.

Are you going to make it to the National Show Aug 12-14?

Not too far of a drive for you, and you can rack up some of those "break-in miles" :)

I'm definately going to try and make the show. We close on our house tomorrow and the moving truck shows up w/ 17K lbs of schtuff on Friday. If all goes well, we'll be in good enough to make the show. It is on my calendar, just have to see how the chips fall...

Definately is great to have the car back. The bottom end is a stock 2003 GT crate motor. As far as the numbers, I'm pretty satisfied considering I don't have a blower and it still looks perfectly stock. Ken told me to drive it like I want it to run, but I'm still going to take it easy for the first few thousand miles...

What does that mean? I'm not that determined  Hey, I had to do something. The motor that was in the car was a boat anchor...

I wasn't talking about the motor, I was talking about the wheels. :D As long as you kept your old motor, no one will care you swapped it out.

    Drive in good health.

congrats on the new motor setup. it was bad enough hearing comments about having a budget saleen, let along the performance of them, but now you can have a little respect. i know i feel a little better now with my upgrades.
