So as i posted yesterday i put the bra on and packed up the wife and (2) of the kids and left for san jose. It is a 365 mile trip and the first real road trip. Well everthing was going great although that dead peddal thing is true but livable. so over the grapevine was no prob plenty of power but i had to behave because my sister in law was behind us. We were crusin about 75-80. We came upon2 chp officers with one car pulled over. Well I looked at my wife and said I wonder what they did. Well about 2 min later here he comes up fast, (I had slown down while I passed them to about 65-70) So i slide over to let him pass. But he pulls up along side me then behind. Great, so i look at my wife and say tinted windows. well we pull over and sure enough he says "I pulled you over for the tint and could i get out of the car". so we walk over to his car and he says "so do all the mustangs have that stang emblem on then". no sir i bought it on line then he asked about the stipes then other stuff. he said he would give me a warning this time but i should remove the tint because i am a target. i told him i was going to get a different color but he told me the yellow /black was just fine. He gave back my stuff and was on my way. funny thing i think he just pulled me over so he could look at the car.
Great story. Sorry but to me there is just something fundamentally wrong with putting a bra on this car. IMHO.
no actually it fundamentally keeps the paint from getting chipped by friggin rocks and from getting polka dotted with friggin bugs
And lets not forget. In hot weather it can also boil the paint. And if not tightly installed rub against the paint and create all sorts of swirls and such.
actually i just put the bra on just for the trip and will be removing it now that i am home. also i didnt get pulled over on the way back. here are pics http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=535734
Of course so can just letting the car sit out in the desert sun. Based on my experience, taking the bra off when washing/waxing/polishing the car does wonders towards keeping the paint in excellent shape. The only way I know to truly protect the car is to put it on blocks and leave it in the garage, though preferably NOT in an earthquake zone.
