    Fellas,
I have been searching the archives on headers for the Mustang II for the last hour and have learned some good stuff.

My situation: 1965 Mustang with 5.0 w/ World Product Sr. heads (P heads) and T5. I am in the process of converting to the Fatmans McPherson strut system so I have a better front suspension and the much wanted rack & pinion setup that ya’ll enjoy already.

My Problem: While passenger side shorty headers are a dime a dozen for the car the drivers side had been a pain. The problem is the collector is right around the old clutch, z-bar pivot mount on the block. This is not leaving much room for the intermediate steering shaft and rack connection.

My questions: Does anyone have the measurement from a V8 head to the MII shock tower? Does anyone have a pic of their driver’s side engine bay that has headers? Top and bottom view? The Hooker headers 6120 have good reviews but I would like to see a pic of them if possible, especially mocked up on an engine on a stand.

    Thanks for the time.

Maybe you should try to get headers made for the 65,the II's are on a different frame/fenderwell than the 65's.
you will like the rack&pinion though.

Well, first of all, MII's don't have strut towers. The MII front suspension is all self contained. Second of all, I am not sure if you are going to be able to use MII headers. The problem is the MII uses a unique smaller trans bellhousing, because if it's smaller body and tighter engine bay. The MII headers sit very close to the engine and trans, and often won't clear regular size bellhousings. On my brothers car, we had the Headman headers on his old setup, which used the big C4 bellhousing and then JUST fit. He recently switched to the Hookers, but he had to go back to the MII bell to use them. Your best bet may be to try the Headmans. His are for sale, if you are interested I can see what he wants for them.

This is the only pic I have of that side of the motor, I don't know if it helps or not:
