I recently bought a set of Comp XE268H camshafts. I just got to see them today, been at school since I bought them. Well, each one looks the same; the bolt hole in the end appears to be the same, but I can't tell for sure. I'm pretty sure that they are actually different though. One cam has "XE268H" and "UH9246" ground into it. The other has "XE278AH" and "UH9066" ground into it.

Now I know that those are two entirely different camshaft grind numbers. But what I want to know is do they come from Comp with those numbers ground into the camshaft? Or did someone do that after they were bought? Only reason I question is because I thought the camshaft bolts were different sizes, and these appear to be the same.

I'm about 99% positive they are two different cams. On the 268H cam, the max diameter of one of the lobes was 2.17 inches; the max on the 278AH cam was 2.20 inches. That basically proves to me that they are different, but I just wanted confirmation. Thanks.

It seems that they sent you 2 different cams based on the markings. You should contact whoever you bought the cams from and tell what happen. I'm sure that they will make it right. Pearl02.

Yea, I already have. Waiting on a reply. They seemed really friendly when I bought them, so I'm hoping for no problems. Although I do hope to have it fixed before Easter week. I'm out of school that week and hoping to get them on sometime.

Good luck with the cam install. That's something I wanted to do but I haven't the balls to do it yet. Let us know how it went. Pearl02.

I heard that Comp Cams has closed down. You may have to go with another brand. Pearl02.

Maybe, I'm not sure. But that's not the problem. I bought them used off Ebay. When I bought them, and just after, the seller was very prompt about returning my emails, normally within the hour. Now, I have sent 3 emails over nearly 3 days without a reply. Just makes me wonder. I guess I'll be patient for another day or two.

Sorry to hear about that. I've had pretty good luck on ebay. If you don't hear from them soon, you may have to get ahold of ebay and report a case of fraud. I hope it doesn't come to that. Good luck with everything. Pearl02.

It deffinetly looks like you recieved two different cams. I would call Comp Cams (no they have not shut down that was crane) and ask them about the markings. Try locating a phone number for the seller and calling them also. From the sounds of it you got ripped.

Well, finally got a reply today, two weeks and seven emails after my first one. And I filed a claim with PayPal right after. Seems that they are dead set they sent me the correct cams. And I know for a fact they didn't.

I got ahold of my dad's degree measuring wheel, or I think that's the name of it, and measured the max and min lobe diameters on both cams. This tool is accurate to the thousandth of an inch. Anyway, the lobe lift for each cam is different and exactly matches the lobe lift that the cam card for each different grind number gives. So I definitely got 2 different cams.

I hope the claim goes my way, because if it doesn't I'm stuck with two useless cams. What's the chance of finding just one XE268H cam? Not very good, I'm afraid.:(
