I'm venturing out of the 5.0 area to ask you classic guys a few questions. My knowledge of the classics is lacking compared to my late model knowledge so here goes. Lately i've been lusting over the old Shelbys, particularly the '69 GT500: I've always had a crush on the fast back Mach 1s, but i especially love the big wide open grill on this car (but honestly, i hate the hood and fender scoops though). My question is, was that front end special for the Shelbys (also GT350s) or did they also come on any other Mustang? I ask because i keep going through pictures and every one with that front end is a Shelby...so my guess is that they switched the nose over along with the GT500/350 conversion. Yes? No?
On 67-68 Shelby's they used the same fenders as the stock Mustangs but had different headlight bezels, lower valence, grill and hood. On the 69-70 Shelby's the fenders, hood, and grill are all Shelby specific. IIRC the fenders and hood are 4" longer.
