The other day when driving my '07 GT/CS with the A/C blasting, radio on & radar detector plugged in the radar detector started beeping really strangelly so I unplugged it then the radio cut out & the radio display said LOW BATTERY so I looked at the battery gague and it waas all the way to LOW, turned off A/C, radio & detector and the needle moved a little bit towards high but each time I slowed down it would drop all the way to low. Had the battery tested & it was putting out 9 volts. The car eventually died so i had it towed to a good Ford dealer. By morning the car started for them!!! So they are ordering an alternator for it? Does it sound like a bad alternator? By the way the car has 36,459 miles on - just over the warranty but they said they will cover it. I am on vacation and was planning on a road trip but that is now out of the question and will have to take the Suburban (not much fun to drive)
Same thing happend to me at 36,700, they replaced it for me as well .. and that cured the problem! im at 40,xxx now and shes running strong !
Still waiting on it. The alternator was not putting anything out when I tested it, and after a full charge of the battery I can drive back and forth to work (~12 mi) without the A/C or stereo (have not tried with them). It's a true plug in. By the way, mine died exactly as you described. First the A/C was not as cold, then the radio died with 'low bat'. After that I slowly lost everything but spark. I was able to make it home and up on the lift, but just barely. I was able to start the car up fine after it sat a few minutes, I guess the volts had come back up, but it had no capacity and would start to die again real soon.
