help with 93 please

    hello yall. my wife has a 93 vert that is having a wierd problem. ive never had a car that has done this before. When she accelerates the car lacks power and once the car reaches 55 or 65 or whatever...final cruising speed does not matter...the rpm's are off. by that i mean that the tach seems to be registering to low an rpm. at 55 or so its only showing like 1500 rpm. shouldnt it be some where around 2000 or so. also this all started after her check engine light came on. right after the car did this the first time the rpms suddenly jumped back up to where they were supposed to be and the car accelerated like it should, then just as quick it went back down again and has never been right since then. anybody have any ideas what our problem is. id appreciate any help you could offer. thanx in advance.

    Ignition module (DIS Module) is bad...replace it.

    no way!! is that all. geeze. :crazy: Is the dis module on her engine kind of like the ignition module on the 5 liter? thanx alot man.

    where is the ignition module on the 93 models...would it be the coil pack??? they don't have distributors on that year do they??

    no distibutor....coil packs only.

    I got the same problem.

    My Tach reads half the rpms. and my Check engine light stays on while this happens.

    I replaced the DIS ignition module , and i still have the same problem.

    any other suggetions.

    I had the same problem, take the one you got back and get a new one. Somtimes it takes a couple of trys. And be sure to unplug the battery before you replace it.

    had the same problem.. replaced the Ignition Conrol Module and problem solved... just sold mine on ebay for 20 bucks too.. since i have no use for it anymore.

    and make sure you put dielectric grease on the back of it when you mount it.
