Ok folks, I'm new to this forum, just got a black 2005 GT and I want to put some HID's in them, the factory lights are crap. Now I have a 9007 Phillips untinon kit on my 2004 Xterra and they are great!!!... even brighter then factory.. now the manual states they are a 9008 bulb and well frankly thisis the 1st time i ever heard of those.. now I havnt had much luck looking for a kit online and i wanted to see if anyone knows of who i can see about getting a kit or what other bulb is compatible witht e 9008. Another idea i have is to change the bulb sockets for a more popluar size and then get a HID kit for that one.. what do you think???

I'm thinking of changing the fogs to driving lights & putting fogs in the lower valence.

the 9008's are tough to find if you can find them at all. Same ones as in our f150. they are just too new. probably gonna have to wait a while for a kit to come out.

Saleen is offering HID headlamps on their 05 S281, calling them would be a great place to start. I have yet to see a conversion kit for HID with the 9008 bulbs. You may find that the 9008 is the same as another bulb in its mounting and plug, but just is labled new. The H4 bulb is renamed 9003 or something like that in the US, so the 9008 could be called something else as well. I am hoping that the Cobra has HID's, and Ford Performance parts will offer the ballest and bulbs like they do for the Focus.

Good luck is Saleen is the only one that has that stuff for the time being, those idiots would probably want $1000 for their kit. While you're at it you can pick up a million dollar shortblock from SHM. :notnice:

$1000.00 for a HID kit is about right if the headlight housing needs to be changed, or special bulbs need to be manufactured for the 9008 housing. I have seen HID kits for around $400.00, but that was the H4 which is very popular. To purchase the production HID headlamps from Ford for the Focus are $965.00 which included the headlamp housings, projectors, ballests, and bulbs.

My HID kit was $400, all you need is the bulb and the ballast.

The Saleen headlight has a different housing, and reflector.
