FMS kit comes with clamps. Does the good year also? The FMS is more expensive from Summit, why?

The Goodyear hoses are normal rubber hoses with a blue outer silicon jacket. The heater core hoses on the GY kit are somewhat molded, but need to be trimmed to fit, and the kit DOES NOT come with hose clamps.

The FMS kit are pure silicon hoses, the heater hoses are molded for direct fit, and they come with special clamps that have a inner band that keeps the clamp from chewing up the hose.

The reason the FMS kit is more is because they are pure silicon hoses, are more direct fit, and they come with a full set of special clamps.

    Hope this helps...

Agreed, except I wish they would lose that light blue color in favor of a dark blue like the GY hoses...

yeah, its pretty bad when I need a hose kit but refuse to buy the FMS one because that blue will stick out like a sore thumb under the hood of my car....(all black, red and grey)

I'd just go to the parts store and pick up some regular hoses / clamps and save myself a couple extra $$. That is just my two cents worth.

those special clamps are offered by summit, complete set is 10 bucks.i just bought gy with the clamps.i had them on my 86 and loved them.everyone is entitled to there .02 worth, but there is no way i would put any junk from autozone, advance or pepboys on my car.all they have is refurbished garbage.i spend the extra money and get quality parts, but thats just me and my .02 worth

I've found that if you look at the different hoses at the parts stores, sometimes you have to mix and match to get the best looking ones, but you can save a ton of money by doing it that way.

If FMS made a black kit that was cheaper, I might consider it. Until then, I'll stick with standard rubber hoses.

i would get the FMS hoses they are better quality and they replace all the hoses unlike the Goodyear hoses. The FMS hoses kept my car cooler too

5.0 resto offers a black kit for $59 with clamps. I am going with the Blue HD hoses. I don't want to be changing hoses again anytime soon. Neither kit is bad, considering the quality of the clamps and the price is not much more than the typical parts store fair. Get a kit that fits right out the box.

The GY hose kit comes with all the same hoses the FMS one does now. The heater hoses are trim to fit, but they are now included. It used to be you would get everything but the heater hoes, but they fixed that. You get all the hoses with both kits...

I chose to goto the dealer and buy all Factory hoses.

The blue looks terrible on most cars, not that under my hood is a work of art, but i certainly don't want to make it look worse.

I'm also told that one of the mentioned kits above (FMS or Goodyear) has hoses that are significantly thicker, and can give some sealing problems because there is so much more material and the clamp never gets totally tight because the hose is spongy.

there is always the option of the chrome piped ones with hoses and clamps on each end. 100 or so bucks but looks good.
