Ive got an 03 Mach and wanna rip out the entire 460.

    I already have this stuff:

    Pioneer DEH8400MP head unit
    JL 500.1 amp
    (2) JL 12W3V2

went to a couple local shops and these were the suggestions:

Orion Pro components upfront (Cant remember if we talked 5x7 or 6.5)
Some Orion coaxles for filler in the back
Orion 400x4 or JL 400x4 amp
1 JL 12W3V2 with my amp in a basic Qlogic box
Or 2 Orion Pro 10" subs (or JL10W3s)

the other was the same deal, but using kicker stuff
Kicker 6.5" component set (RS6 I believe, it was the nicer ones they offer)
Kicker 5x7 coaxels for filler in the back
    Kicker 300X4 amp
suggested the one JL12 for the back

both had 4gauge amp kits, dist block and a 1farad cap.

May have an in on some Alpine stuff, gotta see if I still have it or not..

Im a total newb to mustang sound setups, so any help is greatly appreciated.

You guys were probably talking about putting the 6.5" orion components up front as the 5x7's are usually for rear fill.

Everything sounds pretty good.... If you want to spend a little more money you can always buy some focal 6.5's for up front! If you can... find a local dealer that carries Focal, MB Quart, Boston, Diamond Audio, etc... and see how you like the sound of them..... In my opinion Orion and Kicker sound okay but there is better to be had if you're willing to spend a little extra. You can also get everything a lot cheaper if you buy online, but there's nothing wrong with supporting your local dealer!! :)

Ill have to look into Focal..but when my friend was looking for his Lightning they were ALOT more.

As for the local dealer, my main issue is I want my factory warranty. I nearly bought the 500.1 online..the one I got had a problem a few months later...would have ended up payin more in the end to get it fixed than just buyin one that had a warranty and getting it done free.

Ive also been told the JL and Orion component sets are about the same, but Orion has a bigger tweeter..any comment on that?

I havn't heard a lot of the orions but that sounds about right to me.. it's probably a personal preference thing. Are the prices pretty much the same??

How'd the Orions sound? I haven't had a chance to demo them yet. If they're the P6.2's, I've heard they have excellent SQ and have a lot of midbass. They're also 3ohm, so you'll be getting more power than if they were 4's. I think they're about the same price range as the JL XR's. It's really up to you on which to get. If you can get them for around $200ish, then I'd go for it. I've heard the orions can play louder than the XR's, while staying clean. Guys over at caraudioforum.com are running them with 200watts and they said they sound great.

I didnt get to demo them...there was only the manager and an install guy there today, and the managers father was rushed to the hospital, which cut our time a little short. I listened to the kickers and they were pretty nice, but I wanna listen to the orions too
