If you ordered it with the HIDs, the dealer told me they were having supplier issues, and it could be as bad as 4-6 months if they ran out of current stock before they got to my order. That was in mid August before I found an 08 with everything I wanted (loaded minus Nav or Shaker 1000). Not sure how accurate that was.

Can the dealer or you find another car equipped as yours is ordered? I would be telling the dealer to locate me another car due to the lack of meeting the original deadline. That also might speed them up a bit.

Unfortunately (and fortunately), ordering a car is not a binding contract to purchase or deliver by a certain time. They have no obligation to meet any deadline. They actually don't even have the obligation of delivering a car that you order if they decide not to equip an option, end of model year, or something like that. By ordering it, you are at the mercy of the suppliers, etc. Often times, Ford has ZERO control on these delays. It sucks how little control we have over the situation.

I wish they could of.. a Prem GT, 5 spd manual, with the spoiler delete, IUP, 3.55 L/S, and no hood scoop seems to be hard to find in my area I guess. I didn't even care which wheels it had nor the other options they had as long as I wasn't paying full price for the options I didn't want.

I order all of our dealership's Mustangs. And we special order a lot of Mustangs for customers looking for something very specific. 80% of our orders arrive in 6-8 weeks. 5% arrive quicker, while the other 15% take longer.

I just checked the current week's commodities restriction to see what's a problem currently. Here are the items in short supply for 08 Mustang GT's currently...

18" Polished Fanblade wheels (the ones on my car in my avatar and sig). Restricted to no more than 3% of orders.

18" Polished Bullitt wheels (the ones on the California Special and optional on GT's). Restricted to no more than 15% of orders.

That's it. Free demand for manual trans, HID's, etc. The two wheel restrictions, at 3% and 15%, by the way, mean that the other 82% of GT's have to be ordered with one of the 17" wheels (silver bullitts or machined split spokes).

Thanks Brian, that was a lot of help. I did get the polished 18" bullitt wheels.

Well, that was overly optimistic to quote 1 month. The vast majority are 6-8 weeks. Quickest I have ever seen an order from being input into the system until car sitting on our lot was 16 days for a Ranger pickup. That's gotta be some sort of internal Ford record. The longest I have ever seen (for a normal production vehicle - not limited production like SVT or Shelby) was 11 months for an Econoline Cargo Van I ordered for a wheelchair-bound customer. There had been a fire at the assembly plant after I placed the order, and Ford had to shut done the plant and cleanup and rebuild. Of course, once that van arrived 11 months later, it then had to be sent out to be fitted with a wheelchair ramp/lift, hand controls, swivel driver's seat, etc. which added several more weeks to the wait.
