Ok well I always knew I needed a new windshield, but never wanted to spend the money. But after focusing so much on trim removal, and not messing up the trim, I cracked the windshield somehow. How much you thin it will cost to have it replaced? I just want a clean replacement, it can be used, doesnt have to be new, its ready to come out too, all the trim is off. How much, about, do you think it will be. Mustangs are rather abundant around me too.

On another question, the door trim on the outside that goes into the side view mirror, how difficult is it to remove that? I also need to take out that riveted peice.

    Thanks alot guys!

    $200, possibly less.

I called safelite, and they told me $215, they took all my info, i said i'd get back to them after i got more prices.

A day later they call and say "we'll do it for $169 if you accept right now, and make an appointment".
    So i did.

If you can pull one from a used mustang you will have an original. If you go that route, make sure to match body style since vert/coupes are diff. Down here in Tx I paid $40 for a nice windshield for my 89 vert at pick-n-pull. I haven't had it installed yet, but probably pretty cheap to install, like said above (+- $60). Maybe less since the trim is off.

    Good luck.

$218 installed. When insurance pays they charge approx double. When you pay out of pocket, much cheaper. Are u talking about the door belt moldings?? If so , just take out one screw at the end of the door where it opens and then just gently slide it back and it will come off. There are slots in the trim where the plastic pins can slide into when putting it back on.

I might be able to take some pictures of my old ones to show you if needed.

My dad always tells my brother to throw a rock at his windshield because the insurance company will cover a new one... I guess that could work, but the rock might bounce off the window and put a nice big dent on your car:nono:
Sorry, I just had to post that lol.

Sounds like a nice idea, but it is insurance fraud and one of the reasons that rates are so high. Your right, my luck it would cause more damage than just the windshield:lol:

Just to make sure we are talking about the same molding, here is a pic of it.

Here is a pic of what the back of the molding looks like.

Here is a pic of what the end of the molding that comes to the rear edge of the door. Note the small hole; this is where the only screw goes.

Here is a pic of the opposite end that the mirror slides into.

To take it off, simply take out the screw then gently slide it to the rear of the car. There are round plastic pieced riveted to the car that when you slide it back, the slots on the molding will allow you to pull it straight from the car. Here is a closeup of the slots.

I got mine from 50resto. Painting is fine, but these were $25 apiece when I got mine, so I just ordered new ones. Got any more questions, ASK:)
