I'm new to this forum and I've been reading about how the pre 99 Mustang V6s had 150 HP and the 99 and newer mustang V6s had 190 HP. Is this true?? I just bought a 1998 Mustang V6 5 speed and was wandering how my car will stack up against Camaro V6s and newer Mustangs. thanks

You should run 16's or 17's stock in the 1/4.

Torque gets you down the track, not horse power.

    1998:
    150 @ 4000 RPM
    215 @ 2750 RPM

    1999:
    190 @ 5250 RPM
    220 @ 2750 RPM

The '96-02 base Camaro has the 3.8 200hp, 225lb-ft amd 3.42 gears. They are mid 15 sec. cars so stock for stock, a Camaro has you. If it's a 93-mid 95 Camaro, it has the much weaker 3.4 160 hp, 185lb-ft engine and I used to beat them all the time in my '96 3.8 5-speed. Afterward, I had 3.45s, CAI, true-duals and UD pulley and I stayed with a couple auto 96+ Camaros.

Stock for stock though, a 96+ Camaro 3.8 is quicker and faster.
