Hey guys, Did a search on this and didn't really find an answer. I was all set to buy a replacement air filter for my Bullitt CAI, but the Summit website says that it is a cotton filter that is reusable. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-9601-B/ I called Ford Racing and was told that you can indeed clean the filter, but that you have to be so careful doing it that they don't really recommend it. So my question is, has anyone in fact cleaned their Bullitt air filter? If so how? Thanks, Darien
I guess not. I used to spray out my old K&N out with a hose. The FRPP guy said to clean the Bullitt filter with a toothbrush.
Since the Shelby GTs and Bullitts are essentially the same underneath, I am wondering if it's the same filter as the SGT.. If so, I have cleaned mine once.. it now has 22,000 miles on it. I used the K & N process, and oiled it.. This has been debated very heavily on the Shelby forum.. there seems to be a multitude of solutions.. I would clean it.. it's not paper..
what a surprise.............a parts guy that doesn't know W T F he's talking about. Even just by looking @ it, it's a K&N style filter
They just couldn't do it easy...they should either provide a cheaper replacement (i.e. already oiled at the factory)...or provide dry filters (also at an inexpensive price) that can do the same job...
