My T5 has sounded like a kenne Bell for a few weeks. So today I decided that if it is going to break, I might as well crank the boost up to around 16 psi and have fun while it lasts. Well I drove it all day and knew that it was only a matter of time. While taking someone for a ride a few hours ago, I got on it and I was in third at about 4k and it just blew and I coasted to the stop sign. I tried every gear and NOTHING. I think I blew the input shaft or something. I'm not pissed though, b/c it was a stock T5 with 132,000 miles on it.

I might be buying another T5 for around $300 to make it through the summer hopefully. Then I'll probably get a tremec or gforce in the fall.

Oh crap.... My T5's had that faint supercharger whine ever since I bought the car and never really thought anything of it. Is this a common thing with our cars? I asked the previous owner about it and he said it had been doing it since he could remember. Oh well, I'll change the fluid in it and hope it lasts a while longer.

That's normal whine...but then again why would you be worried unless you were also hitting 16psi? Mine has 150k on it and the car is dyno'd at 389 ft pounds net and the trans is meant for 300..its still going.

all t5's are a little loud, but what I'm talking about is absolutely embarrassing loud. If it is as loud as mine was, then it is done for. Mine sounded like that for about 3-4 weeks before totally breaking.

p.s. The 16 psi was very sweet. I was giving a ride at the time to a guy with a ls1 z28 and I had him holding on for what seemed like dear life.

    breaking a T5.........$300
having a ls1 guy say "Holy S**t, this is the faster car I have every been in".................priceless

16 psi? That's weak. Do you not recall the 18 psi we saw while chasing after those bikes?:D

:bang: At least you had a fair warning and new it was gonna go.110k miles I put a king cobra clutch and steeda triax shifter in my car.The next day,While showing my brother the shifter,I hit 3rd and the T5 blew the input shaft.I had no boost. To top it off,I had to get another clutch, bellhousing and shiftfork to make the now ordered tremec fit. What can you do?

Wow. That sucks. I sure hope my clutch is alright. I'm pretty sure my input shaft is broke since I can hear something going on in the case and no gears work. If I did ruin my clutch, I don't think I'll buy another 10 spline clutch on top of another t5.

No the clutch was brand new it was fine.I had to get diff one cause the king cobra wont fit tremec, you need a 10.5 or 11.5 to fit it(not sure which is was off the top of my head),but it had to be bigger.Blowing the input shaft shouldnt affect anything but the tranny.Mine just went BANG,stuck itself in 2nd gear and I couldnt move the shifter anywhere lol. When I took mine apart, there was no rebuilding it.But the clutch and linkage were all fine.

Oh. I thought you wrecked it somehow.

The reason you have to get a new clutch is b/c a tremec has a 26 spline input shaft.
