could someone please explain where the long studs that are threaded on the inside go on the mac system and how your install went. thanks
Those are the tip hangers. They go into the rubber pieces that bolt onto your rear bumper frame. They hold up the exhaust tips via the L-shaped bracket, which will bolt onto the top of the exhaust tip itself. Install went fairly easy for me and my dad. Maybe about 1.5-2 hours, most of which was spent cutting out the previous exhaust system, which is welded together (only had 18" jack stands, not enough to just slide it out, had to use an OLD school Dremel to cut the metal :/).
haha, exactly what me and my dad did, jacked the entire car up, put some jack stands under there and had to cut off the old pipe... installation went smoothly, took about the same time as pony joe, considerign ym dad had already put an identicle kit on my brothers mustang a few years earlier (which he had long sold by then) Simple install, it cost 300 including the shipping and the brackets, and i swear that it is the best sounding exhaust on our 6es, everyone says 'oh you wont get GT sound' i have a friend with an 00' GT, and he admits my car sounds much better than his, lol
how do you hang the tips? do i need another stock tip hanger? how do i bolt the L bracket to the tip? thanks
See my attachment: 1: long bolt that's threaded on the inside 2: L bracket 3: bolt that holds L bracket to rear bumper frame 4: bolt that holds exhaust tip to L bracket 5: Exhaust tip And yes, you need 2 muffler hangers and 2 exhaust tip hangers (metal brackets with rubber pieces with a circle cutout in the middle where the metal 'rungs' slide into). You need these: The circular holes are what the long studs slide into to hold the exhaust tip in place.

Maybe he said that because of the whole not-being-stainless-steel thing. Its aluminized steel, which resists rusting, but inevitably will rust and stuff. But so did your stock exhaust, and i would say that stayed on their nicely. Im sure it would last alot longer if your out west or something and dont get alot of rain. Personally they look alot better on our dark green 95's than it does on the 99+ because ours are angle cut and just come out at a better angle. Crai-zy horse, one of the few people around here with that same color, damn is it beautiful! I also have an alpine head unit in my car, but it looks alot older... lol, along with a cheaper Ebay Intake!
i have the macs installed on mine, and they sound nice, but i wish they were louder u know? but i think that's just cause it's a 6, lol. If you want more performance go to a shop and have them cut out the y-pipe and put to 2.5in pipes directly the mufflers, this will give you some more power. That's what i did cost me about $80, if they say more, say I got a friend that had it done for $80! Installation is simple, the hardest part is cutting that stock piping out cause the jack jacked up too low but other than that, it sounds nice.
thats what i did, my stock hangar on the drivers side was in good condition, and i had 2 new hangars (came with the MAC exhaust, but they were for parts), so i didnt bother replacing it, so i have an extra one lieng around here somewhere... maybe in the attic with all of the other extra parts, lol
are you talking about the tip hangers or the muffler hangers? if i bought the gt hangers would i mount them in the stock location? thanks
are you sure the tip hangers go in the original place cause if that's the case then it doesn't look like the tips are gonna look right cause they're not going to be sticking out from the bumper at all? i feel like a tard, i haven't asked this many questions about anything on any car ever. could someone just post a picture of the tip hangers on please? i know where the muffler hanger goes but i'm confused on the tips.
