I have a set of Eibach springs that I want to get installed on my 01 Vert. I live in Atlanta GA and I am looking for a shop that may be able to install these. I called one place and he told me it was gonna run about 660.00. Says that IRS is a Pain in the ass. That may be so, but does anyone know where I can get these cheaper?

That seems pretty pricey. I am having the pro-kit installed on my '01 next Saturday: $599 including the springs and taxes (and I thought that was a lot). I don't live in GA but at least use that as a benchmark as you call around.

yeah, it is. although the way I look at it, they're charging 350 for an install that would take me pretty much all day (not to mention I'd probably f somethng up with my skills)

yeah. I guess you're right. t's just expensive for an install. But none the less I guess it is a pain to do. If anyone knows or has had it installed cheaper, comment here.

Go somewhere else, $660 just for the install is a huge rip-off! Get out the phonebook & call up several area performance shops if you must. Or, better yet, maybe a fellow 'stang enthusiast would be willing to lend a hand & do the job for you.

    Here's a handy "how-to" installation guide BTW:

I was just quoted at 225 for the springs and 250 for the install. Total out the door just at around 500. I made sure he knew I had teh IRS.

    WHOA!!!

I just got a quote for Dugan (hehhe) Racing here in GA. They are gonna charge me 245.00 for the install. Evidently the IRS is a pain and people do not want to deal with it. But, I am willing to go with 245.00. That sounds a little more workable. Thaks for everyones advice here.

$100.00. You sure your not messing with us? Hell, I wouldn't do it for a $100.00. I put springs in my last 91 stang, that was not to bad but I am not messing with that IRS. I wonder if your installer has any idea what they are getting themselves into.. Who is putting them in if you don't mind me asking?

Borrow the spring compressor from Autozone (it's free after you return it) and get a buddy to give you a hand some weekend. I put in an Eibach Prokit in my 01 vert 3 months ago by myself (having help would of been a plus) in 5 hours and I'm definitely not Mr. Mechanic. The rear IRS was definitely harder than the front (do the rear first) but not really a big deal if you take your time and carefully follow the install instructions. After putting in the rears the fronts damn near seemed to fall in. Mustangworld.com has a great article in spring installs.

Thanks for that info. But how did you break the struts in the front? I had to borrow a friend of mines impact wrench. that was a long time ago. I don't have access to one anymore.

Yea guys I guess I'm getting a deal..HAHA..There is a place in Apex, N.C. Called Diversified Automotive. I think I'm getting a deal because he's putting on my full exhaust, subframes,IRS brace, Differential bushings, Subframe bushings, Control Arm bushings, and my springs. For $700. I finally get my car back today.

I would do them myself. I had a buddy help me (he is better at this stuff than I am) and we were done in three hours. Not sure why people won't touch the IRS, that was the quickest part. Putting the spring compressor on was merely tedious, but not hard at all.

There is a cobra guide somewhere how to do it (they feature a 99 white cobra). I borrowed the spring compressor they mention and everything was very easy.

    Good luck.

The front struts simply unbolted from the spindles. The lower control arm then simply was lowered down (with a jack) and the springs were easily popped out with a pry bar. The top of the struts didn't need removing. I also used the instructions featuring a white Cobra convertible. Run a search on "cobra spring installation" and I'm sure you'll get some help.

A spring compressor is not required and the first time I did them it was a PITA. I went back a month later and took them out and back in and the IRS took me about 2 hours with a beer break. Piece of cake.
