I took of my bbk intake pipe today.... and i noticed on the bottom of the pipe ( where u cant see if its on the car ).. theres a open hole in the pipe. Its after the mass air. Should there be something in this hole? ( hole, filter, etc.. )... Also does that have any effect on the motor?
Bet it was a nirous hole. Shouldnt be one on the bottom. Im suprised you dont have a check engine light or idle problems cause that would def screw up the MAF readings. Plug that hol with something, a bolt and silicone or a cork or a NAWZ nozzel
I don't know if it's the same hole but, I know on my UPR CAI there was a hole with a grommet on it after the MAF. I remember my ex had another sensor that went in that location on her 01. I called UPR and they said that they don't make a separate CAI for the later stangs without those sensors. So, apparently if you have a CAI for a stang without that sensor, you are supossed to plug the hole. I used a bolt that fit in there nice and snug with a little RTV and made sure that it didn't protrude into the intake tube. I also used some RTV on the gasket of the MAF to the tube.
its for the air intake temp, newer stangs have them built in the maf, older ones have them seprate, like mine
I knew about the IAT sensor I just didnt know they didnt use them anymore and usually the sensor it on the upper part of the pipe
Well I just went outside to look at the Terminator and see it has its IAT sensor on top of the pipe behind the MAF. My friends 03 GT dont have one on the pipe nor does his C&L pipe have a spot for one. I just assumed Ford put it in the plenum like on Foxes. So when guys do Lightning MAF or Cobra ones on their newer GTs they have to add a IAT sensor?
Yes. It is allowing unmetered air into the engine. AKA the mass air sensor is not reading the actual amount of air entering the engine. Could cause alot of issues like erratic idle, lean condition, dirt and/or debris in the intake tract.
i have a lean on bank 2 or somethin like that code, but i always thought it was because of o/r xpipe?
If you can't find something to plug it with, I would just simply put a small piece of tape over the hole for now. Just make absolutely sure that it can't get sucked into the engine. I can't really say that this is what was causing your lean code, but it definately isn't helping anything.
YES! The MAF is measuring a certain amount of air and its wrong because of that hole. Doesnt your car idle ruff or hesitate? Get really bad mileage, backfire or anything? EDIT: NM Tim already beat me to it. Damn slow ass internet
No cable lines here yet, new subdivision. The sat is expensive to start and unreliable. No DSL phone lines yet eaither. There is supposed to be fiber optics going in before summers out and I will go that route Right now I have Alltels cellular teathering and it peaks at 180 kbps
well first off i get horrendus mileageee.. like rele bad.... and if i idle for a while... the exaust will sputter like its misfiring for a few seconds.... that could both be caused by that hole?
