What in the world will cause "everything" to go dead?

Car runs fine...can just be cruising along and all of a sudden the dash goes black and the engine dies. As quick as it died, the lights come back on and I crank it right back up. First time it happened at a stop light just idling. A few more times cruising from light to light over the next week. Twice while cruising at hwy speeds last week.

I just had it serviced at the dealer...full diagonistic...no problems!

I'm guessing a bad ground somewhere...but where??? Maybe bad coil?

Check your ground wire that runs from the battery to the block. Sounds like it could be the culprit.

oh oh oh, I just dealt with this problem.

Next time it happens, SLAP the.....relay?....little box thing that is a bit past the starter relay positive post downwire about 2 inches from the bundle of wires on the yellow wire. It is a little silver box that is some kind of circuit breaker. It pops and EVERYTHING goes out just like a disconnected battery cable. Lemme guess, you disconnect the battery and reconnect and everything is cool all of a sudden. I cut that piece of crap out and no problems ever since. Whack this thing and all the power comes back on. Whack it again and power goes out. I cannot discern the purpose of this item.
