I have a 2005 v6 stang with the stock stereo (not a shaker 500 or 1000). I just installed an amp and sub (alpine 10" r series sub and alpine vpower 400 watt amp). I seem to get little to no bass output from the sub when using my itrip auto which u just set to a station then tune the radio to that to play ur ipod through it. On regular readio stations depending on the song i get varied bass output, seems very good on some stations and with cds the bass output is nice loud and clear. I'm guessing by using the itrip fm transmitter im loosing almost all the low frequency bass output, so i was wondering if there is a way to hardwire an ipod to my stock head unit, there is a button marked AUX so theres gotta be some wires to tap into in the wire harness that plugs into the back of the stereo. All I want is to get the best quality sound from the songs on my ipod so they sound good and make full use of the sub. The system really bumps with cds, its like night and day between the ipod using the itrip and cds. it wasnt a big difference with the stock sound system, the speakers had decent bass with both cds and the ipod.

You could try an inline FM modulator. It runs between your car antenna and the radio to give you the best possible sound without an aux input. Try Ford Trip Tunes or Scosche FM-MOD01 Modulator. The Scosche is available at Cruchfield.com or pretty much anywhere car audio is sold. Trip Tunes is available through Ford of course. Hope this helps!

thanx ill look into the fm modulator. I am just confused as too why I'm getting basically no output from the subwoofer while using my itrip auto yet i get plenty of "boom boom" from the sub with regular radio stations. Could it be that by going through the fm tuner in the radio (with a modulator or transmitter) that the ipod is loosing all of its ow frequency bass output, or maybe the problem is the ipod itself. Ill think about trying the fm modulator, but id like to find out first, is it possible to hardwire some audio input wires into the stock head unit(remember its not a shaker system its the regular stock system). There is an aux button but the stock head unit doesnt have the j4 plug like the shaker systems do.

Did you try the EQ on the IPod? Try using the bass boster setting. Maybe that would crank up your bass?

Get a head unit such as an Alpine (for under $200) that has a direct hook up for the ipod. All of the controls for the ipod are in the head unit. It also sounds much better than the Shaker 500.

Buying a head unit right now isn't an option because i basically blew all my money on the sub and amp and wiring kit. Id like to keep the stock head unit because i like the sleek look of everything stock and black inside. Has anyone found a way to hardwire an ipod into the stock head unit, afterall that AUX button has to be there for a reason right?

 you'd think that by now someone would've marketed a direct replacement head unit for the S197's

this is a real problem for Ford's image in my opinion .... :fuss:

did Ford just put that [-AUX-] button there for looks? :bang:
