Hi all, i picked up an irs from an 03 cobra, only problem was that the center section isnt salvagable. Does anyone here know if the centers section from a tbird irs will work in its place. I do realize the cobra is a 31 spline diff, tbird irs parts are a dime a dozen here, I can swap out the 28 diff for the 31.
Update, pulled out a cast iron center section from a 90's supercoupe, v6 supercharged car. The housings are identical, except for it not being aluminum. I also traded out the 28 spline carrier and gears in favor of a 31 spline 3:73 geared unit that was in an explorer that was next to the car., maybe this info may help someone down the road.
If you want the aluminum center section look for a Lincoln MK VIII, they have the aluminum pumpkin, the T-Birds is iron. Hope this helps. Lile
