HI all, I'm just getting back to the forum, but I'm not sure what to do. Its time for me to replace my 2000 Mustang Vert and I'm not happy with the choices. I've been really excited about the 2009 Mustang, but I decided to wait for the Challenger and Camero to make a decision. Well GM is now being run by Sparky in Washington DC and they don't make a Challenger convertible, so that leaves me with just the Mustang. That's OK because I really like the new models. Or at least I thought I did until I went to look at a new GT. I pulled up in the car lot and found the 2010 is not the same as the 2009 and the rear fasha is really ugly. I didn't even get out to look at the car because I was so put off. I guess I'm going to have to buy something used, but am I the only one to react that way to the 2010 Mustang? I am very disapointed. Beary
I saw one up close at a local dealer a few days ago while I was there. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it that much either. Kind of sticks out, and instead of wrapping around they did that little quarter turn in and then bring it around. On the other side of the coin, 315hp and the interior is supposed to be cleaned up a little. If you wanted to spend some extra cash you could always get a rear kit after.
Your not the only one...I must admit it has grown on me as the 05-09 did but I do like the interior much better IMO.
The interior is nice and there are some really good options. But I agree, I don't like the rear end. Maybe someone in the aftermarket will have a solution.
I don't like how the front bumper under the grill looks like it's smiling. But I didn't like the back end that much either, I prefer my 08 GT vert, no wing, rollbar, very 60's...
The majority of people don't like the 2010 rear end. Don't know what Ford was thinking. Not to mention all of the black cladding. You can still find 2009's on lots.
I don't care for the rear of the car either. But I bet it will grow on you. And the view from the drivers seat is still great! I would order it with the track pack, but I really love turns. I would like to adapt the track pack to my 06.
Like was said above, most don't like the rear end much, but again the other upgrades to the platform are nice! You can find 2009 still around. I bought my '08 in march of '09 and I know that the dealer down the street has 4-5 2008-2009 mustangs left on their lot. New ones mind you, not in their cert pre owned lot. It is possible, just look around and get what YOU want, don't just settle because that's all they have...
The rear end does not look quite as bad in real life, although the separations in the tail lights look like braces on a child. I do like the sequentials however. Another thing about the rear end is maybe ford is going to make it an interchangeable part with some of the larger sedans . Funny thing, I thought my nephew was the only one who saw the smiles and frowns on cars. The '05 thru '09 GT has quite a mean frown which is why I softened it with the Eleanor. The 2010 also has quite an overbite.
You know... I think we need to accept our offspring's attribute for what they are. There's no changing what they look like, and although we may not find our offspring's rear as beautiful as ours, they are babies and we're their parents. AKA.... I'm not sure whether or not I love it yet. Everything about the 2010 is unique in comparison to us, and I think I can accept the rear for what it is. Ford did a GREAT job improving the little things the S197 lacked. If I were going to get a new Mustang... 09 vs 10... I'd get the 10. Even though I wouldn't trade my 08 in for the 10...
When I first saw it at the LA auto show on press day, I was sure I didn't like it, but it's growing on me. Just the best all around sporty 2+2 on the market.
The best I've heard the rear described is it looks like a baby loaded its diaper. The aftermarket will surely try to fix it, but the rest of the car is sweet. The front is sleek, the hood is awesome, and from what I saw of the interior, it was much improved; better stitching, materials,etc...
I do agree with that. The rest of the car is pretty good looking. I love the overbite for the hood...now if they will make it for the previous gen that would be awesome!
Hey Beary, I feel exactly the same as you. I bought a 2009 GT with the glass roof because the 2010 wasn't as good looking as the '09. I am more than happy with the '09.
