Can anyone here tell me if 2008 will be the last year for the current shelby gt 500. I have an 05 gt convertible and was planning on trading for a shelby next week. I was under the impression that 08 was going to be the last year, but if they are going to keep making them I think I might wait and see if the prices get down to or under sticker. Thanks in advance
Not sure. Ford does have the option through Shelby to extend the model run through 2009, but I have yet to hear whether they have exercised that option yet. I tell you what though... if the dumb-ass dealers don't stop raping the customers by continually asking for astronomical markups over MSRP, there may be an excess of GT500's still on the showroom floor at the end of the year which could influence Ford's decision on adding that third run. U.M.
Thanks for the info. I've been dealing on a couple of shelbys. I missed one at only 120 bucks over sticker. The others have been higher. I think I'm going to hang on and see if I can do better.
I have seen two on ebay, brand new, never titled for $47K. IDK what sticker is but that seemed like a good deal Edit: never mind I just found this " 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe. Invoice: $38,101 MSRP: $42,170 " I thought they were more expensive. At 42k its a damn good car, at 60K I would scrape a little more together and get a Z06
I hope they don't make it anymore. And I hope the next pinnacle Mustang isn't anywhere near 4000lbs. But I hope for your sake that you end up with the car you want at a good price.
The Shelby GT500 is a mean looking car... but the $42,000 MSRP is too high. Ford has had a track record of making fun cars and I love it. However the new CEO is a business man and is here to make Ford profittable again. Yeah you make money on every GT500, but not like they make money selling 10 times as many plain ole GTs. Right now the auto industry is in a big hurt domestically, I wouldn't be suprised if production ends in '08. Plus just look at past SVT Cobra offerings... looks like SVT runs a couple years then takes a break to dream up some bigger, newer, better, much more bad-ass vehicle.
